What I was trying to say when I pulled up next to you on the freeway is that I would do several very hard stops with those new brake pads... to the point where you can smell them. When I was driving next to you I could still hear squeaking. I never really had any squeaking when I had them on my car. My guess is that there is still some of the old brake compound on the rotors which you need to burn off.

When the car came to a stop I could smell the clutch burning but after about a min or so the smell was gone. I'm pretty sure the engine shutoff when I started going backwards, or at least I hope so. I know that the automatic BMW trannys do shut the engine off to protect it but I'm not so sure about the manual trannys.
As for the driveline, I don't feel anything different, except that the alignment is slightly off but probably cause the idiot that I am allowed the tow truck driver to pull the car out by pulling on the control arm!

Wow, you definitely spent some time running backwards. Is the driveline behaving okay?
