Dinan CAI and Shattered Rim (archive)

I have an appointment tomorrow at 10am at Braman BMW in West Palm Beach for the Dinan CAI and upgrade to stage 2 software. My estimate calls for 4 hours of installation time at 60$/hr. Is that freaking ridiculous or what? How long should the installation take? I realize that on the Dinan page it says that the CAI is 15 units of labor and the upgrade is 5 units of labor (5 units = 1 hour), but that sounds like a crock of b.s. to me. I really would install it myself, but don't have the time and the patience to deal with it (after spending many wasted hours on the mundane tech support calls with dell, hp, et al.). Any comments welcomed.

Secondly, I was chasing behind my best friend today who drives a 98 e36 m3 sedan, and he spun out around a curve and plowed into the curb. Not only did he bend his axle (and probably some other internal damage), but I was very surprised that the bottom half of his BMW stock rim shattered into little fragments. Is this a common occurence for this sort of accident? It would seem to me that a rim could withstand a lot more than plowing into a curb at about 25-30 mph.
