The M coupe has a firmer rear suspension compared to the roadster. That combined with its increased rigidity make the coupe and the roadster two very different beasts.

Both the M coupe and M roadster share a somewhat revised version of the E30 M3 rear end which is the predecessor to the E36 M3 rear end.

Magainze writers and rice-boys will all tell you that this older rear end is a problem. I would ask anyone who believes this to achieve faster times around a real track in an e36 M3 .... it seems that we Americans assume anything older than 5 years is crap.
