This might just sound like common sense so don't laugh. It seams reasonable that our beloved Coupes are the red-headed stepchild of the Z3 family.

Any changes we see were most likely derived from Z3 changes or M3 changes that could work with in the Coupe. I bet they don't spend a lot of money or time on the M Coupe due to its smaller sales.

The reason so many Americans like the new M3 is that unlike previous versions it was designed primarily for US driving. This is because US sales of the M3 are larger that all other countries combined (according to a magazine I read).

In the case of the Coupe, I would think, its basically lives and dies with the Z3 convertibles. I would even bet that if they made significant changes to the Z3 that could not be brought over to the coupe, they would kill the model.

Just my $.02

It would be even more frustrating if the '01 M Coupe has the same quality problems as the current model. I mean, I am now very pissed off that the trunk latch broke again! This is the third time!
I think that I shouldn't try fixing it myself, like Ron did, because it is not my problem. I seriously think that the M Coupe sucks because of these silly problems. How come BMW NA & BMW AG cannot cure these things once and for all?!
I can't wait to see whether the '01 MC will be flawed or not...
