After only 1800 miles in pretty benign conditions my 2000 M Coupe looks and feels worse than any other car I've owned at 10K miles. The paint on hood and bumper are chipped up. A plastic trim piece for the rear pillar is warped. I had to fix the hatch latch at 1200 miles. There's a slight knocking noise when I corner which I think is coming from the driver's seat. The rubber bumper for the gas door fell off (yes, it was an easy fix, but, well, you know...). The glove compartment door rattled, necessitating yet another home fix. What is this nonsense? This is my first Beemer so I have nothing to compare it to. Is this typical BMW quality? Not since my friend's old '94 RX-7 have I seen a car deteriorate so much from so little use.
It is a fun car, and so far nothing major has gone wrong, but this is ridiculus. And what is this silliness about not publishing factory service manuals, like those from Helms? BMW, if you're listening, I wouldn't consider another product from your company at this point. I'm beginning to regret picking the M Coupe over a Z06.
