Questions about reserving 2001 M-Coupe (archive)

Looks like I have decided upon the 2001 M-Coupe over the Z06 and Boxster S; however, this will be my first time "reserving" an automobile. Can someone with experience give me a little guidance as to what I can expect at the dealer in reserving a car that is yet to come out.

Second, is there any potential to order an M-Coupe with 18" wheels from BMW (M3 - would they even work with the M-Coupe) or will I simply have to go aftermarket? Any input would be greatly appreciated...
