A friend from the local BMWCCA chapter has some items he says will help my Z3 coupe handle much better with easy installation. If anyone has experience with this, please encourage or discourage me accordingly. He has the front strut assemblies complete and the rear shocks and springs from an M coupe. He says that these will "bolt on" to my Z3 coupe and
1) lower my car to the same height as an M, (~ 1.5")
2) give me the extra caster an M has for better handling,
3) give me the same camber as the stock M to insure I don't have any tire wear issues. My questions become:
1) Do I need to install the front control arm bushings with the offset?
2) The M & Z3 site, (http://pw1.netcom.com/~sgalaba/) indicates that my Z3 front sway is thicker than the M. Any adverse issues there? Is there an attachment geometry consideration?
3) Any camber issues, front or rear. He says rear issues will be managed by the spring pads. Anyone know if these are the same across Z3's and M's?
4) Any tire wear issues, alignment issues, etc.?
If anyone can share any positive or negative aspects of this endeavor, it will be very helpful. He only wants a small amount for these things and will install them as well. Thoughts, experiences, reservations?
Thanks in advance,
Dwayne
