stock michelin pilot sports are superior to dunlop 8080's for a reason. they are rated AA traction, A temperature. the stock 8080s are A traction, A temperature.

the difference is (and why most z's come with dunlops) is that the 8080s are made in germany. probably a cheaper OEM price for BMW than michelin's OEM tire prices.

what is not so obvious from the traction rating is that tread pattern is part of it, but so isn't the composition of the rubber. all of our high-po. tires are formulated to deal with the heat of high speeds and therefore, are rotten winter tires because the compound gets cranky when it is cold. the michelin rubber compound, if you feel it, is very different from the 8080s.
