I did it. Traded my 99 on a Z06 in July. First I agree with comments fit and finish, interior cheesy-ness, etc.. But... I am making 352 RWHP which equals around a rated 410 hp and this car just screams. It also handles fantastic (remember z06 only weighs about 70lbs more than an MCoupe)turn-in, which is important at auto-xs, is exceptional.

The build quality is actually quite good, no rattles or flexing, just the materials are cheap.

I do the BMW autocrosses here and lets just say the z06 gets FTD by about 2.5 seconds on a high speed course. I look forward to running the new M3 this season.

I loved the MCoupe but the Z06 for me is a step up because I like to go fast more than anything else.

I was just looking over at the e46 m3 board, and have noticed major controversy regarding the Z06 versus the M3. It seems clear to me that no matter how hard you can slam the Z06 for being made in America and criticizing all of its rough edges, it is still the better car. Hell, the Z06 beat the Porsche Turbo by over two seconds on the track in a R&T issue a month or two ago. The Z06 is without question the best American-made supercar. With a price not that much greater than that of a current M coupe, and only a few thousand more than the upcoming 315hp M coupe, I was wondering if anyone on this board was planning on purchasing a Z06 anytime soon (I know Coky has brought this up at one time or another). I personally think that jumping over to the Z06 would be an attractive option for the next few years while waiting for a re-designed M coupe with the suspension upgrades, craftsmanship upgrades, 6th gears, etc. that everyone is waiting for.
