BMW's own projected US sales for 1999 M coupes was less than 1,000. The M coupe has a small market and BMW has committed it's engineering resources to the E46 M3, which has a broader market appeal. I personally think that BMW put the $$$ where it counts in the M coupe...engine, suspension, structural rigidity. I'm not heartbroken by the absence of a factory keyless entry/alarm ( I installed it myself for $300). 18" wheels and a 6sp tranny would probably shove the M coupe into the $50k range. Tough competition in that group (i.e. Porsche Boxster S).

I'd be happy to drive my 2000 M coupe for a long, long time.

What kind of cars are we buying?
I have a 2.8 Z3, and planning to buy the 2001 MCoupe. How come they don't have a factory alarm system installed? At least on the M cars?
And why it doesn't have the 6 speeds like the M3, and the 18th in. tires?
I hope they have the xenon lights ...
What do you think?
