Jet black vs. sapphire black (archive)

I've just placed a deposit for an 01/02 M Coupe. My first choice would be a Jet Black car but I've heard that this paint (as applied by BMW) is less durable then its other colors (more chipping etc,). Is this true? Second question- How does Sapphire black compare to Cosmos Black. Is it darker or lighter??? Thanks for your help!
