Sorry for the confusion, but the swirls I was discussing were those left from wax residue that wasn't completely polished off. These swirls can be eliminated without Speedshine, but it's a LOT easier when you use Speedshine to buff the wax.
Snip:
Does it turn black plastic white?
I am very careful when I wax near any of the non-painted parts (I usually tape them off with blue 3M masking tape), but I'm willing to conduct an experiment if it's not too expensive.
Would you consider the windshield washer plastic indicative of the plastic you mention? I can probably order one at the dealer for just a few dollars and try it out.
As for the swirl marks, I agree. The carnauba from Griot's does a magnificent job of hiding those that manage to appear between my semi-annual polish sessions. And this is on Cosmos Black paint!
In my experience Griot's 100% cotton cloths help virtually eliminate swirl marks as well (though I still recommend using them with a gentle touch).
