I am counting two shop visits for fuel gauge/sending unit repair for my 96 1.9 Z3 and now a second visit for my 2000 M-Coupe. It's full, it's empty, it's full...UNBELIEVABLE.

Why does a car model that is in it's sixth model year still have a problem that has appeared in its first model year. If you look behind the passenger seat back you will see that BMW now pre-cuts the carpet to facilitate this common repair.

My questions: Why not solve the problem itself instead of making it easier to fix. I can pick a $500 beater off a used car lot and I bet the one thing that will work is the fuel gauge.

Just venting.

Ulrich
