I too read that the Techron in the Chevron gas could help clean the contacts. So I have been sure to ONLY use Chevron gas since I got the car (plus its the closest station to my house). When I fill the car up at 200-210miles it usually takes about 12gallons. I figure that's close enough. :-)

As for working after 50 miles, mine doesn't do that. When it screws up, it stays almost at empty with the light on till my next fill-up.
