In a car that is aggressively sprung off the showroom floor as the MCoupe is, interior creaks are going to be a fact of life. Rattles can be remedied if you can isolate. I had a '81 280ZX Turbo that was absolutely mint. Solid black, only 40,000 miles when I got it in '92. I decided to do a little suspension work, and about six months of the harsher ride created a ton of rattles and creaks, not the least of which was the entire rear hatch. Granted it isn't a $40,000 BMW, but it shows how hard the tight ride can be. Even Porsches have their share of creaks and thumps...

Instead of window stripping, I sometimes use electrical tape. It holds up well and is easy to remove and clean. I have a bit around the trunk latch anchor and it helps to isolate a little of the hatchback noise.
