Improper fuel gauges in a vehicle? That is the most absurd thing I have ever heard! For 40,000, yes that's right 40K a damn fuel gauge better for FOREVER! My POS 87 Toyota Supra that I drove to 230,000 miles, and now my younger cousin drives to probably about 300,000 has never had any type of fuel gauge problem EVER! I put the crappiest gas (87 from acme) I could find in it. So for a car that cost me about 4 times what I paid for my supra, I should get the same, if not better mechanical reliablity.

I haven't had this problem yet, but I'm willing to send a group letter to BMW demanding that they solve this problem. I'm afraid it's gonna happen to me one day and I'll be out of gas sucking trash into my engine from the bottom of the tank.

ABSURD is the only word I can think of for this problem.
