The structural rigidity, measured in hertz, of the M coupe is outstanding. BIMMER magazine listed the stiffest cars in the BMW lineup (higher is better):

M coupe 29.2 Hz
E39 528i 29.0 Hz
M roadster 18.4 Hz
E36 convertible 16.6 Hz

The M coupe is much more balanced and confidence inspiring than the cowl-shaking roadster. Just my opinion.

I guess it all depends on your priorities.
