In Reply to: Can replacing roof speakers be done w/o new amp? posted by Scott on March 04, 2001 at 19:54:12:

significant difference. It sounds to me like the amp is sending only audio information that is geared to the speaker sizes currently installed. I didn't get any low or mid-range enhancements at all.

Actually, I think it was a tad worse because the set of speakers I installed were 4 ohm instead of the 2 ohm ones I removed which effectively reduces the power available to drive the newer ones.

My goal is to tap into the head unit output to drive a 4 channel amp and power the new rear speakers and also new front ones in the kick panels with full range info. Hopefully this will enhance the sound for the least amount of investment and modifications.

BTW, a set of 5 1/4" speakers fit perfectly in the rear speaker area.

I'm open to any other ideas.
Dwayne
