i just went with whatever was reasonable from crutchfield at the time, about $90 for a pair of 5.25" coax. not a very scientific approach, but i wasn't looking to create a true hi-fi (that's for the living room, not sports car!). i just wanted to stop the sound from irritating me on the very rare occasions that i turned the thing on, as i hate systems with no midrange. replacing the roof speakers did accomplish that. you may recall i also replaced the radio/cassette with a blaupunkt toronto in-dash cd, which by the way fits the interior esthetics better than the stock unit. even with the level-shifting junk that was necessary to adapt the unit to stock amp, and retaining all other stock speakers, i ended up with a system that was quite tolerable, especially compared to stock.

all that said and done, the best sound in the coupe is still controlled by the right foot!!
