When one thinks of a supercar, we usually think of (as below) the McLaren F1 or any car with Lingenfelter / AMG / Saleen / Ruf / Shelby (to name a few) tagged to it. I agree that all of the above most likely qualify, especially regarding performance ... performance meaning acceleration, handling, and top speed.

I truly feel that the new BMW M5 would qualify as a Supercar for the main reason it does EVERYTHING well. It may not be the best at all categories, but for a full-size 4-door sedan, the M5 is a truly remarkable (driving) machine! And ... it's got a helluva lot more practicality than any McLaren or Lingenfelter machine. I must admit, Lingenfelter did a 4-wheel-drive Chevy Suburban that ran 0-60 in 5.3 seconds and a 13.3 quarter mile a couple years ago, a sport ute that really (literally) hauled!

So, my candidate for MY tastes and needs would be the new BMW "M5" ... Would be a nice stable-mate for my "///M coupe"! ... someday, maybe. My thoughts. FWIW
