Well, my coupe has finally arrived from the states. This past weekend me and a friend of mine flew down to Southampton, England to pick it up. Drove back to Aberdeen, Scotland on Friday and Saturday, 600 miles. I couldn't believe how FAST people here drive! If you are doing less than 90mph, stay in the slow lane! I had the cruise set at 95mph and would speed up to 100-110 to pass or just to keep up with traffic. In the states my experience was that very few people go over 85. It was a great drive back! We deviated from the main roads to visit Oxford University (where my friend went to school) and the Lake District, it was magnificent, specially now in the winter with all the snow everywhere. Couldn't take it too fast through the district though, it was a frosty morning and I didn't want to fly off the road.
What is kind of funny is that I drove my car into my drive way at home. I still had at leas 6" of snow, I went to drive it the next morning and couldn't get it out. I know it was stupid to park it in the snow.
I didn't find it too strange having a left hand drive car in a right hand drive world. I did get some strange looks, but of course that is normal when you are in a Coupe!
Stats: 600 miles averaged 56mph, lots of traffic through Birmingham and Manchester. Only averaged 24mpg, I figured I would do better than this, maybe it was the bumper to bumper traffic and the 90+ speeds??
Look forward to joining some drives in the northern UK.
