A lighter wheel can result in more wheelspin and can allow a driver to "flatspot" the tires (hitting the brakes hard and causing the tire to lock up long enough to shave a flat spot on the tire). The Hoosiers are somewhat prone to doing this, especially on cars without ABS... but I have never driven them on a BMW.
The Hoosiers are great tires... they are the best out there. But they are a very technical tire. I know the conversation is more about rotating mass, but I figured someone might be interested in the further details.
