Thanks to those who suggested lub'ing the striker. I was leaning towards that but figured it was worth a post here to see what lubricants were recommended or worked best. I used a spray-on lithium grease and it worked great. Also, it seemed to make quite a bit of difference if you flip the latch over by hand, because then you can actually lub. the surface that hits the striker. Just make sure you pull the door handle to reset it before you shut the door!

Anybody else had trouble with the driver's door handle? (Or passenger side?). It seems linkage has strecthed or something, because the handle pulls up until it feels like it has gone as far as it will go, then just _barely_ opens the door. The inside handle feels similar. It seems that this is worse when it is warmer outside, and better when slightly colder.

Any other similar experiences? The BMW dealer here is not very competent and I hate to think about them taking apart my door without knowing exactly what the problem is.
