Any good synthetic is far, far better than running the engine with low oil levels, so go to your dealer or the local auto shop and get the oil you need. If you're supremely concerned about the oil's rating, buy the BMW stuff. By the way, a little autocross trick on our 3.2l engines is to slightly overfill the oil. Supposedly you can run up to an extra quart of oil without causing any ill effects (our pans are deep enough that the crank won't hit the oil, causing foaming). Even if you don't autocross, that extra margin of safety is worthwhile... in my opinion.
