Just got back from an awesome 2-day event at SCCA ProSolo El-Toro.
Awesome was the word! Never attended a ProSolo before, so I didn't really know what to expect.
When I 1st pulled up to the starting line, I was a bit overexcited, and trying to follow Mark Sipe's advice, I gunned it, but my reaction time was .359 (you need a minimum of .500 and a maximum of 1 second to get the green light).

The following starts were a mixed breed. Really tough to get it down right, but at the end, I was averaging about .570 - .650.
The course was well setup (Tom Berry designed it), with 2 slaloms, a NASTY carousel, and a fast kink.

On saturday I did okay, with my best times being 33.3secs and 33.4secs (left and right course).
Because I knew I just had to chance of competing against the ferrari 360 modena, Lotus Elan, not the tricked out Porsche C2 993, I decided that I would've done well if I broke the 32secs mark. And sure enough, on sunday during my 4 runs, I went down to 32.7 on the left course and 33.1 on the right, and beat my running partner of the day, a Porsche 968.

If you ever attend your 1st ProSolo event, make sure you try and bring someone with you. The whole event is so overwhelming and competitive that it's really tough to be on your own, especially when other people have usually 1 and sometimes 2 or more people helping them out in PreGrid / Grid !!!! (some of them even brought some custom made tire heaters !!!!).

Anyhow, just thought I'd share my experience with you guys. I do have some pictures, but have yet to download them to my computer. Will post a link once that's done.

Karl
