In Reply to: Tilt Glass Roof Panel - Is it worth it? (more) posted by Kurt Martin on April 07, 2001 at 12:28:18:

I'm expecting ridiculously hot interior temperatures this summer in my 2000 Estoril blue M coupe with the sunroof. I would prefer the lower weight and increased rigidity of the solid roof.

I hope to buy a 2001 M-Coupe, and I have to decide on what options I want. Fortunately, there are only two choices!

The question is, do I really want the tilting glass roof panel? I live in California, and the sun can be quite hot in the summer. The salesman at Brecht BMW told me that they don't usually order the glass in San Diego, because without a sliding cover like you would have with a moonroof, the car just gets hot.

And if you can only tilt the panel, and not open it like a conventional moonroof, is it really that useful?

So do any of you swear by your tilt panel? Could you not imagine your car without it? Does your car get extra hot when the sun is out? How about those of you without the panel? Do you regret not getting it?

Thanks in advance!

Kurt
