but it depends on how the radio's front end is tuned. If both cars use essentially the same radio, then it's possible.

But remember, the less metal in the air means the less signal that gets to the radio - unless there's an antenna amplifier between the antenna and the radio. This is usually what happens with very small antennas are used. Same thing when antennas are fine wires between window glass panes, but it depends on lots of stuff I don't want to get into.

Sounds like you're making a decision between what you think is nice antenna looks and nice radio sound. You may not be able to get both.
