booty out on the race track. I just got back from running with the Golden Gate Lotus club up @ Thunderhill Raceway- man, what a blast. I am used to getting lapped in my n/a miata, but not this day. I did get passed a couple times by some really beat to crap Alfa's(they raped me in the turns) so a new set of light wheels and stickies are the next items I want. I was very suprised that the stock suspension worked as well as it did- it was very good IMO! The Michelin's also worked well until they got too hot and I was squealing and sliding all over the place. They were very predictable at the limits though- thank god! I found tire pressures challenging- even using my tire temp. gauge. I definitely need some negative camber fr/rear! All in all, I had a blast and there was only a couple spins- no accidents!

I did get frustrated during the second session- this dumbass in a racing jumpsuit(makes him feel like he is fast) was driving a beautiful Elan, but he was ALL over the place- he braked waaay too much, took some bizarre lines and then hammered it on the straights and would not let off to let me by(I literally took turns 10-15mph slower behind him). So I give him some room and stab it coming out of each apex onto the straights- side by side, but his hp/lb ratio must have been about the same as mine, cuz he was right by me. On my last attempt to slingshot by "Mr. Lotus Elan racer supreme" I notice some clear liquid spraying up from under his rear bumper( I thought it was radiator fluid)and then it literally sprays the whole front end of my car. I immediately back off and wave to the drivers behind me to back off too, but they didn't listen.

I pull in the pits and run up the tower and tell the flag dude "the jackass in the blue elan is dumping radiator fluid on the track, and on me- and by the way- he drives like shit in the turns and will not let anyone pass him- can you please black flag him?". So he gets black flagged and does not come in- what a retard. Since my car was covered in shit, I went to go wipe it down with bottled water and clean rags. After I finish, the session ends and I drive over to Mr. Elan. So I say, "is there some reason that you drive so slowly in the turns? I was riding your ass, but you wouldn't let me pass- why is that?" He just smiles and says "I guess I was black flagged?" Was he stupid, conceited, or embarassed- I will never know. Then I tell him, "and by the way, your fucking car sprayed me and the track with radiator fluid- check for leaks before you hit the track next time". I drive back to my spot to let him contemplate his stupidity and lack of track etiquette. About 20 minutes later he comes strolling over to me and says, "my battery was not tied down enough and it came loose and broke- that was battery acid fluid on your car- you better wipe it down with water." I kind of panicked at this point, said "thanks for letting me know" and then immeidiately hosed her down and dried her. I was speechless at his stupidity, although happy he had the courtesy to tell me. What kind of moron comes to an event in a nomex racing suit and shoes and forgets something basic like that?

Anyhow, most of the other lotus drivers were pleasant on and off the track- I had a great time!

sorry for my long winded vent...

///Mike
