Look around your dealership and see how it could have happened. The parking spaces surrounding the building at my dealer have concrete blocks that are supposed to stop tires before a car's bumper could hit the building. They caused the damaged in this instance. The lot boy was putting the cars there before & after service. The damage might also have been done while putting on or driving over lift. Some lifts have arms that come out with vertical extensions. Some guys get lazy & leave these out instead of returning to close position. Damage can happen to tires & car if they misjudge. I had a tire's sidewall cut this way (dealer replaced it). Measure the height of the concrete stops, etc. or anything else that could have caused the damage & try to line it up with yours. Your right, the damage may have been done on a road test, but that will be tough to prove. Of course the tech will say no way & the dealer will probably support the tech unless there is some past history. In other words unless you have some rapport built up at the dealership where he will repair it on your word for "goodwill" you should try to present the Service Manager with a plausible scenario as to how the damage happened. Unfortunately now days you have to inspect you vehicle thoroughly before removing it from the lot after service. I don't authorize test drives unless I'm onboard. I learned that the hard was some years ago. The mechanic test drove my car to the 7-11 for the morning coffee & doughnuts run. While there the car was creased along the entire driver's side by a sleepy truck driver. Of course the dealer bore the responsibility & was very apologetic but the vehicle was never the same. Good luck!
Washed the car today and noticed the driver side front spoiler had been damaged. Like someone hit a groove on the road.
I know for a fact that I did not do this, I've been to the dealer twice this month, once for an oil change and at that time the service person mentioned that one of the mechanics took the car for a test drive. The other time was Monday to replace a broken rear latch.
The scrape is about 1.5 inches. I called the dealer and told them what I have found they told me to come back Monday and talk to the Service Manager.
Anyone here have any ideas, I want the dealer to fix this scratch!
