this isn't that new & exciting if it's working off of just using the ABS system to sense when a tire is low.

in fact my fiancee's mom had a Pontiac (shudder) Grand Prix that had a system like this.

the systems that use transponders in the wheels have more "cool" factor to them, but I think that a decent tire pressure gauge is good enough for me...

can sometimes tell when tyres are low, but more notices the way the car handles when there is a lot of stuff in the back...

The concept
The Tire Pressure Warning (RDW) monitors
the tire pressure in all four wheels
while driving. The system is designed to
detect whenever the inflation pressure
in a tire drops significantly, monitoring
the speed of the tires relative to each
other. A flat tire can be detected and
reported because its speed suddenly
deviates drastically from that of the
other tires.
