Granted, I enjoy good sounding music. I don't think I would ever spend the money on a car though. I'd rather spend the money on a home audio system.

If I might add - why just a home audio system? Home Theater is what you should get. Plays music well, but ooooh the movies! And with the cost of theater tickets today, its cheaper and more enjoyable to watch a DVD with AC3/DTS on a good home system! Just add popcorn :)
As for car stereo - I agree. A small SPORTS CAR is NOT the right place to stuff a huge stereo system into. Nor was it made to do so. The accoustics in a small sports car are not right. My Audi A4, being a larger car, had way better sound than my Coupe. But then, it has a larger area to work with and give depth, a larger trunk to stuff the subs in (and use as a chamber), and a lot more spots to stick speakers in to make it sound like a true concert hall.
Also, it adds a lot more weight to the car. But if you are putting more money into you STEREO than performance, then you probaly don't really drive the car they way it should be anyway. But then, . . . . WHY did you buy a SPORTS CAR? Should have bought a van and filled it with concert speakers.
