As mentioned you will probably drop the bike in the first 6 months, a new bike with lots expensive pieces just waiting to get broken. I'll take a wild guess and assume you like the sportbike look as opposed to a cruiser. From what I've read, you can't go wrong with a 500cc Kawasaki,early-mid '90s sportbike. I think there is one with upper fairing only. Keep this bike for a year to learn how to ride and then next year for your birthday go for the one you would really like.

my 2cents.....

Well I just completed the motorcycle course and passed! I will be going to the DMV on Tuesday to get the "Motorcycle Also" badged onto my driver's license. The course was really good. I learned a lot, and I've definitely been tempered concerning motorcycles. They are very dangerous machines, and I have no intention of getting a powerful bike anywhere in the near future.

However, I do think it is important that if I do get a motorcycle, it be one that would be good to learn on. I know very little about different motorcycle types, and was wondering if any of you M coupe'ers could make any suggestions on what to get. Keep in mind I am thinking of a relatively inexpensive new i.e. unused bike in the $2-4k range. I won't say anything else about the displacement I'm looking for, because basically, that's one of your jobs in helping me out.

Thanks,

Ben
