I disagree with everyone as far as fairing or no fairing. It isnt a dirt bike so there's no reason to drop it while climbing the learning curve. If they mean dropping it in the driveway that' s bull I've seen guys riding 15 years drop it in the driveway. If they mean dropping it while riding, trust me the last thing you'll care about if you fall is the damn fairing, you'll just hope all your limbs are still attached. Buy whatever you like that's in your price range. Also no one mentioned a dual sport bike like street/dirt. They are very light and easy to handle. Ex Honda XL, Suzuki DR, Yam XT or Kaw KLR.

Well I just completed the motorcycle course and passed! I will be going to the DMV on Tuesday to get the "Motorcycle Also" badged onto my driver's license. The course was really good. I learned a lot, and I've definitely been tempered concerning motorcycles. They are very dangerous machines, and I have no intention of getting a powerful bike anywhere in the near future. However, I do think it is important that if I do get a motorcycle, it be one that would be good to learn on. I know very little about different motorcycle types, and was wondering if any of you M coupe'ers could make any suggestions on what to get. Keep in mind I am thinking of a relatively inexpensive new i.e. unused bike in the $2-4k range. I won't say anything else about the displacement I'm looking for, because basically, that's one of your jobs in helping me out.
Thanks,
Ben
