For this particular auction I know it was legit. My sister-in-law was part of the team that set up the raffle for Junior League (some women's group thing)...the money they raised went to some charity for the poor and homeless. But, I can't speak for the rest of the raffles out there...so you do have a valid point. They could be rigged. :-)
