The sound is the car bouncing off of the rev limiter. In higher res pics, you can actually see the marks (which went all the way down the parking lot, not that I'm proud or anything) get lighter and darker based on where the car hit the limiter. It doesn't sound that high pitched from inside the car though. Weird. It almost sounds like a turbocharged car's blow off valve opening and closing. Maybe BMW stuck a turbocharger in my ride as a bonus without telling me...

I really hope it wasn't a little bird ;)

PS - Don't tell him I posted this, but its too cool not to. Here's an M3 owner's burnout, caused by the bad influence of my totally irresponsible waste of rubber. Notice that, being frustrated and dissatisfied with his 1st gear rev limiter after about 10 ft, he decides that 2nd would be a more appropriate gear. WOW does that car have some power...

Question...what was that high pitched chirping sound when you were accelerating? Did not sound like a noise tires would make. Perhaps a small bird stuck in a rear wheel? :-)
