I know some of you must have crossed state lines to buy your cars. I'm lined up to do this soon. My home state is Texas and the dealer's state is Connecticut. I'd like to take delivery in Spartanburg.

1) Which state's taxes do I pay?
State where you register the car
2) What titling and registration do I pay/perform?
State wehre you register the car
3) Do I need to pay Texas taxes when I bring the new car immediately to Texas?
No, cuz you pay the Texas taxes up front. Chances are though you might have to pay $100-$200 in misc state fees & minor taxes to Connecticut.
4) Does Spartanburg delivery change/complicate things?
Nope, I'm doing it. They use the amount you normally pay as destination fees to cover your Spartanburg fees.
5) Should financing be based on TX or CT?
I financed with BMW, dunno.
6) Will my Texas based financing be good in CT?
Dunno for sure, I would think so.
Thanks!
