The right pull may not get corrected even with a new tire...its the caster settings that are usually the culprit.
Swapping the Pilot Sports from left to right (rolling wrong direction) is not a correct way to test for a bad tire.
Can you tell me more about the dial lighting...I am very curious how this can be so messed up with today's quality of instrument lightning.

Daniel

I love this car!!! I picked it up 8 days ago.

Two problems to be fixed by the dealer:

1. Front right tire is bad. Symptoms were a pulling to the right at freeway speeds. Alignment was dead on, and swapping the tires right-to-left for a quick test drive proved the problem. The new tire is on order and will be installed this week. I'm working with Henry Borders at East Bay BMW in Pleasanton, CA - so far so good.

2. Hatch release button works intermittently - once every 5 or 6 presses. Opening with the key works perfectly. The dealer is researching the solution. This will be fixed (hopefully) with the 1200 mile service in two weeks.

Three disappointments I will live with for a while:

1. The HK sound system is just plain lousy. It is a poor system in many ways including the quality of the sound, the optional trunk-mounted 6-disk changer, and the CD-display, all of which are not comparable to stock systems on cars costing much less. The Lexus IS300, for example, includes a far superior system as a standard feature. I recommend not purchasing the BMW system - go for an after-market product.

2. The dash lights in the center consol are mounted with really poor quality. The lighting of the dials is uneven, with bright and dim spots. There is also excessive bleeding around the needles of the tach and speedo. I'd rather live with this than have someone pull apart the dash. This was discussed in some detail in a thread from last weekend.

3. The gray dials just don't do it for me. I'll be calling BMW per Ron's suggestion from an earlier post.

One problem mentioned in my post when I took delivery has corrected itself:

1. The auto-dimming mirror has broken in and now works well. It seems the dimming cells need to be "trained" during their first couple of uses.

Later this week I'll be visiting Jon at LeatherZ. Enhancements planned include:

1. Chrome stick and brake handle
2. Metal pedals
3. Possibly metal hockey sticks for the doors
4. Mach2 armrest (simple black)
5. Leather pads for the door handles
6. Clear turn signal lenses

Check out Jon's site for more possibilities - www.leatherz.com. Jon is a pleasure to work with!

That's it for now.
