If you have a 330i the only systems that are available or will be available are the ESS kit which seems to be a well thought out kit. G Power makes one but it will cost you over 10K and they are in Germany. For that price I would rather have a Racing Dynamics engine put in - makes some 336HP from the 3.0 block bored and stroked to 3.5 liters. Since you have read over the archives at e46 fanatics I am sure you have run into dondon's posts about his kit on the 328i from ESS. Problem with a lot of tuners is that they are based outside the US. ESS is in Norway, so try getting replacment parts. Dinan has no interest in making a supercharger for the 3 liter engines as there is not a high enough demand. ERT probably will not come out with a kit for some time if at all. The new computer systems in the e46 based engined cars are very complicated so reprogramming is essential. Without it the system will not work at all. So yes it is a good thing. Hope that helps.
I read all of the archive posts on super chargers VS turbo and it sounds like SC is better for a daily driver. It is not clear to me what system is better. As I know it my options are: ERT, ESS, Dinan, Racing Marquee (sp), and Turner Motor Sport. It looks like the kits all put out about the same amount of HP, what are the pros/cons of each system. It is my understanding that ESS reprograms the ECU for increased fuel, remapped timing, etc. I don't think ERT does this, how about the others. Are there any pros/cons to reprogrammed ECUs? Any other hints, tips, ideas?
Thanks
Tim
