raced a WRX (archive)

Today, I was on the road, and saw an old friend of mine who picked up a pearl blue Subaru Impreza WRX (and he had gone beyond the break-in period). I know this is a fast car, and at highway speeds, I thought any race from 40 or 60 mph might result in a loss.

At first, we raced from 40, and at about 80, I was ahead by a car length. From 60, I was ahead by a car length at 80mph. We also raced off the line, and that wasn't even close (at least two car lengths at 70-80). My friend warned that his all-wheel-drive would tear me apart off the line, but obviously not. The WRX was no match for the coupe.

The WRX though is one sharp looking sleeper. Although not as fast as the coupe, when you consider the price and the times people have been running with mod'ed WRX's (thirteen flat quarters), its a pretty amazing car with its awd and handling.
