Given the last post, I think I would plea Not Guilty, and hope the cop doesnt show up to the next court date. It happens on occasion. If the cop DOES show up, then you can try to meet with the Cop before the court goes into session. He may be willing to do something for you if you come across as a respectable citizen. I don't think a reduction in the fine is worth pleaing guilty to a speeding offense. I'm not sure I understand what driving school has to do with the Judicial system, but that must be part of the California process, and is also a factor to consider.


If you plead not-guilty then they will schedule a second court date at which time the officer will be present. In my experience it is very hard to beat a ticket this way. It is basically his word against yours and the cops usually win! I also know that many judges will deny traffic school if you take it this far. This is just my experience.
