Is my clutch okay? (archive)

I was driving around today, and I came up to a silver 360 modena. Stupid me, I come up on his left, and decide to downshift into 2nd to slow up next to him. I really was looking more at his car than paying attention to my own driving.

I pushed down the clutch, moved the shifter into 2nd, but while I was shifting, I accidentally let the clutch out a little. When the lever was in 2nd, I released the clutch and heard "EEEEEEEEEEKKKKKKKKKK." I hadn't fully engaged the clutch during the shift, and the gears were not meshing together but rather grinding. After this, I lagged behind the modena, red with embarrassment, and prayed that my car was okay.

Should I be worried?
