In Reply to: BMW HAS DISCRIMINATED AGAINST ME AND MY M-COUPE!!! posted by karan on July 30, 2001 at 07:55:48:

I got the same answer from my dealer in Kentucky. I am needless to say irate that I have a car with only 10,500 miles on it and destroyed wheels. I have only used the BMW wheel cleaner which makes matters worse.

My wheels look so bad and aweful that sometimes it just looks better with
brake dust on them rather than being clean. its an embarrasemnet for me and
the bmw logo. anyhow my dealer along with the other three in dallas/fort
worth area will not replace it due to the fact that bruce rhieneky who is
the bmw service rep. declines it. he blames it on bad detergent that was
used to clean it. but the paint is deterioting from within the rim inside
the clearcoat not from the outer lining. he just won't listen. the service
manager at john roberts sais that its the bmw brake pads (factory pads)
fault that does this and i need to clean the rims everyday to remove the
brake dust so that the acid from the pads won't ruin my rims. therefore its
not covered under warranty. i told him well i wash my car two times a week
and the pads are from bmw and so are the rims, if they put pads that cause
this to rims then its their fault. duh, but he responds that bmw needs to
do driver educational training on keeping their rims clean constantly. he
sais that not only do the m roadster and m coupes have the problems but so
do the m5's and m rimmed 7 series, and its all our faults for not cleaning
it after each drive. anyhow the only settlement they offered is for me to
pay for two rims and they will buy the other two. they are admitting their
own guilt but he's calling it a customary courtesy for public relations
which makes no sense to me. I need help bad and now, someone please tell me
which dealer replaced yours so i can drive up there and have them replace
mine. this time i'm putting the green stuff brake pads on so that they will
not get damaged again. thanks for your patients and support.
