i sold my '99 after one year and 6K miles, and lost close to that much - popped the proceeds into options for two weeks and made all of it back and then some - enough to buy my lotus for no extra cash (those were the days...) cars are not investments, they are experiences that you pay for. don't feel sorry for us '01 owners - we are having way too much fun for our money! :) my personal philosophy is that money is not everything, it's what you get everything with.

however, when you're on a budget, it makes sense to let someone else take that initial depreciation hit. from that perspective, a used '00 M in low thirties is a much better deal than a brand new 3.0 at the same price.
