The 10W-60 oil is slightly thicker in viscosity than the 5W-30 oil, but I didn't think it would be THAT much to cause you to hit 260. That's weird.

I wonder if they put regular non-synthetic oil in your car by mistake. Though it says synthetic on the receipt, it could have happen (though I hope not).

Then again, even with non-synthetic oil, you shouldn't hit 260 on a normal drive home.


What was the surrounding temperature when you were driving?

Were you driving your vehicle hard, speeding?

260 is something I usually see at the track, never on the street.
