Did you call the dealer? Doesn't synthetic start to thermally breakdown at that temp???

So I finally took my 2001 M coupe in for it's 1200mi service ( at 2500mi, the dealer was backed up) and they did the full service, oil, filter, diff, etc. Looking at the reciept later, I see that they changed the oil with 10W-60 (synthetic I hope) but now I'm noticing my oil temp is running hot. While with the factory fill I rarely got above 200 degrees, last night driving home I was touching 260. Is this suppose to happen?? What is the difference between the two oil wieghts, 5W-30 and 10W-60. More heat means more friction somewhere right?? Help me out guys...this doesn't sound right to me.

Thanks in Advance,
Andy K.
