OK, for those of you who were interested in the stubby antenna, here are the details. The antenna can be ordered from www.parts4vws.com and costs $35.00. You DO NOT want the one that is modified for Audi TT. You want the non-modified one:

p/n 8N8051849 Antenna Mast Non-Modified $30.00 + $5.00 S/H

This is the one with correct threads to fit our antenna base.

Now, for the bad news. This is a VERY stubby antenna, less than 3" tall. Reception suffers. It is better than no antenna at all, but pretty significantly worse than the stock antenna. For strong stations in my area, it works fine. For stations with marginal signals, not so good.

Bottom line, for the amount I listen to the radio it's probably fine. If you listen to your radio a lot it may not be sufficient for your needs.
