I had mentioned on this board that I was pretty upset about the condition of my wheels. The pitting was getting out of control. I had not taken direct action with a dealership at this point. A few days after my post I got a call from the dealership asking about the post I had made to this board about my wheels pitting. It turns out that the Warranty Manager was an avid viewer of this board and took it upon himself to find out about my grievances. He invited me to come in and have my wheels examined by a BMW specialist to determine the extent of the pitting and the appropriate course of action to take. I brought my car in and after a few questions (have you ever used harsh solvents to clean your wheels?.....NO...how often do you wash your wheels?...at least once every two weeks) It was then that they determined that it was a warranty issue and they agreed to pay for a new set of wheels. There was very little pushing for this on my part. That was the incredible thing. They were the ones inviting me in to have them looked at in the first place. I was blown away by the whole thing. During this inspection I even asked if I could keep the original wheels so that I could race with them. They said no problem. I was very impressed. I ended up selling the wheels before I moved back east.
Taking this one step further…though not directly related to the wheel pitting issue…though related to wheels. I had my tires balanced during my 15K checkup and noticed afterward that my front left wheel had a nasty rash mark on it upon pickup. I mentioned this to my BMW service manager in Richmond, VA and he easily agreed to have the wheel replaced. There were no questions asked. Again I was very impressed. The bottom line is that BMW has taken care of me each and every time I have had an issue. The wheel pitting was easy for me. I just hope that you all can find the same luck.

Hi all, Many of us have the starfish rims with a horrible finish. Some have already gotten their BMW dealer or BMWNA to replace or refinsh the rims. Can those who got satisfaction post some info so the rest of us can have stronger backing to support our case with our dealer or BMWNA? Anything you post would be appreciated. I guess we could use: Vin#, dealer, contacts. Anything else?
I think together we could really get this resolved for everyone.
Thanks, ///MZoom John
