Spedometer calibration - any luck? (archive)

Has anyone had any luck getting their speedometer
recalibrated on their 2001 M Coupe? Someone posted a while back that their dealer had some parts on order to do so, but I am having no luck finding that message in the archives. I think I could get my dealer to fix mine but they don't believe that there is any real way to do so, short of replacing the speedo. And they think that doing that is a hit-or-miss proposition. Are they correct or is there actual a way to calibrate this thing?
