My buddy Andy let me use his lift this morning to install my new (used) Supersprint exhaust. The install was very easy, with him doing most of the work!! On the '99s the exhaust is one piece from in front of the cat's, so he got out his plasma cutter to cut off the stock exh. The new exh went in very easily, just a little tweaking with the channel locks to get it lined up properly, and away we go. The sound at idle is not all that much different from stock IMO, so I was a little disappointed at first. But at higher RPM's it speaks a little louder. One side affect I wasn't expecting is a smoother idle. My "granny launches" have absolutely no "shudder" associated with them any more. Must be some more low end torque. Before when starting in 1st gear without giving it much gas the car would shudder a little. Now it is absolutely smooth! Love the chrome tips, highly recommended upgrade. Article at mz3.net was helpful, showed dyno tests on a '97 2.8 showing a 20HP gain with Dinan CAI, Dinan software, and Supersprint exhaust. My butt dyno must need recalibrated, can't say I notice a huge difference, but then I've only put 10 miles or so on it. Here's some pix.
