the dealer had one on the lot that'd been sitting there for a while. i basically told them what it was worth to me (34). at first they didn't want to move at all. i told them that what i really wanted was an M (which was true), but if they gave me a good enough deal i might take the 3.0 off their hands. we went back and forth, eventually they came down to 35, but i ended up getting an M anyway.

basically, first find one that's on the lot - you're far less likely to get a deal if they have to bring it in. second, decide what it's worth to you and be willing to walk away if you don't get what you want. it may take a couple of tries, but it's doable.
